Abstract

This study aims to determine households' share of food expenditure (PPP) in Pokol Village and Balane Village, Sangihe Regency. The method used is descriptive analysis, PPP calculation, and Food Security Index indicators to analyze PPP. The samples used were 95 households for Pokol Village and 100 for Balane Village, determined using simple random sampling. The results show a PPP of 44% in Pokol Village and 38% in Balane Village, which means that Pokol and Balane villages have fulfilled one of the indicators for food security areas. In addition, 64 households in Pokol Village and 68 households in Balane Village have a PPP value of <65%, which means that food expenditure is less than non-food expenditure. However, there were 28 households for each research village with a PPP value of > 65%; that is, they had more food than non-food expenditures. Rice is a type of food that accounts for the largest share of household food expenditure, namely 35.19% for Pokol village and 34% for Balane village.
